Michelle Wait is Chartered Accountant (CA) (SA), who also majored in accounting and commercial law as part of a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Michelle has 15 years post article experience, both locally and abroad. She has completed extensive compliance, accounting and auditing work. Michelle worked for the Auditor General South Africa (AGSA) for a significant part of her career, where she gained extensive experience in the auditing of financial statements, compliance and performance. For the past 4.5 years, she has been working as an independent consultant in the public sector. She has been involved across all spheres of government with the compilation of unqualified GRAP compliant annual financial statements and audit files, the reconstruction and compilation of unqualified asset registers and providing hands-on support during the audit process. Drawing on her wide range of experience, Michelle also heads audit committees of various entity forms within the public sector. Along with her beautiful family, Michelle loves to keep fit and explore different parts of the country.

Brigitte Jones is a CA (SA), who helps businesses build robust profit models and financial structures, and is passionate about creating strong control environments and cash flow management systems. She has had a wide exposure to a variety of industries, and is able to pull from these to creatively inform new business models and structures. She has been involved with clients at an operations level, so is able to assist in the day-to-day implementation of strategic objectives, including practical workable internal controls. She has dealt in highly unionised environments, and well understands organisational change, having dealt with mergers and acquisitions in the audit environment and at her previous employment in the motor industry. Her communication skills are well developed, and she thoroughly enjoys working in teams. Her passion is problem-solving. While balancing the demands of teenage children, Brigitte finds time to spend hiking and mountain biking with her family, and has a love of international travel.

Robyn Steyn is a chartered accountant with extensive experience in leading projects and teams in both the public and private sector. She is has been an expert audit engagement partner to a textile company, a number of multinational automotive component manufacturing companies, and a number of local municipalities. Robyn provides accounting and audit technical support to clients and regional audit (internal and external) teams. She has performed a number of internal quality reviews and pre-issuance reviews on behalf of the Auditor-General. In a local government audit turnaround project, Robyn provided hands-on support that resulted in an unprecedented change, from a disclaimer of opinion to an unqualified opinion in one financial year. She also led a geographically disbursed team, resulting in improved audit outcomes at all project sites. When she is not working, Robyn enjoys a diverse range of activities and interests, with her favourite three being travelling, travelling and travelling.

Karen Kew has 25+ years’ experience the public and private sector, with a primary focus on public sector financial management. She holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree and has completed the SAICA 3-year training contract (articles). Karen has project managed numerous public sector projects, across all three spheres of government. She has an excellent understanding of public sector financial management processes and the regulatory environment in which the sector operates. Her areas of competency include strategic management, project management, report writing, public sector finance, asset management, risk management, intergovernmental relations, policy formulation, internal audit, performance management, governance and legal compliance issues. Her goal is to make a tangible difference through the advancement of financial and performance management, accounting, reporting and strengthening of governance within the public sector. Karen enjoys keeping fit, reading, travelling and spending time with her family.
